June Plum

June Plum

Spondias dulcis

Origin Melanesia and Polynesia

Edibility June plums are about the size of an egg and can be eaten ripe or unripe. The ripe fruit tastes similar to pineapple, mango and apple. The skin and flesh are eaten once the fibrous pit is removed.

Characteristics June plum trees are large trees (60 feet) that grow incredibly fast. They will reach a desirable height of around 10 feet in two years, and it is best to keep them trimmed to this size to allow for easy harvesting. In the tropics they will fruit year-round.
