Edibility The leaves are commonly eaten cooked in the Haiti and other islands. It is mild in flavor, similar to spinach.
Characteristics Haitian basket vine grows similarly to bougainvillea in that it branches out horizontally with a stiff vine. It is a long-lived shrub that can produce lots of vegetation in the full shade and can handle even the hottest summers.
